Dr Kyuto Sonehara

Postdoctoral Fellow

Kyuto is a postdoctoral fellow in Gosia Trynka’s group. He uses computational techniques and high-throughput technologies to investigate how genetic variation affects immune cell molecular phenotypes.

My primary research interests focus on understanding the molecular etiology and pathophysiology of human complex diseases, a passion rooted in my medical background. Prior to joining the Trynka group, I worked on statistical genetic analyses of a wide range of conditions, including immune-related diseases, infectious diseases, and cancer, spanning both common and rare diseases. My experience in analysing genetic factors associated with immune-related traits has fuelled my enthusiasm for functional genomics, particularly in immune cells. I am especially interested in translating disease risk variants into molecular mechanisms, with a focus on context-dependent effects.
