I’m a computational biologist specialising in microbial ecology and genomics. I lead the microbiome analysis for the CARRIAGE study and support the development of the Respiratory Virus and Microbiome Initiative.

My research focuses on the nasal microbiome, particularly the nasal carriage of Staphylococcus aureus in healthy individuals. Using shotgun metagenomics, I generate high-resolution strain data for all members of the nasal microbiome, shedding light on their interactions and advancing our understanding of S. aureus carriage.

During my PhD, I applied staphylococci-specific amplicon sequencing to two large population cohorts in Denmark and Germany. This work provided detailed, high-resolution quantification of Staphylococcus species within the nasal microbiome, revealing patterns not previously observed.
