Hazem is a senior data scientist in the Lotfollahi Group. His research focuses on leveraging Artificial Intelligence (AI) and Machine Learning (ML) models to capture the cells' real-world behaviour.

I have a solid foundation in biology and computer science, which I integrated during my PhD by applying computational methods and machine learning to study protein motifs and structures and leveraging protein language models. This focus on computational biology allowed me to address critical issues impacting people’s lives. Prior to this, for my master’s, I concentrated on the automatic tuning of deep learning architectures. I have worked in the machine learning and software development industry for over six years. I have specialised in architecting, building, and optimising performance for large-scale projects, tackling a variety of real-world problems and challenges. As a member of the Lotfollahi group, I am integrating my skills to develop generative foundation models that simulate cell biology, answering critical questions related to understanding disease causes and developing new drugs.
