This person is a member of Sanger Institute Alumni.

I was at the Sanger Institute from April 2012 to March 2016 and again from October 2019 to October 2021. I have moved to Genomics England to take up a Product Manager role.

Christine is a Principal Bioinformatician in the Genomics of Pneumonia, Meningitis and Neonatal Sepsis group.

My role involves developing, managing and delivering bioinformatics training for our JUNO and GPS project partners. More information about the training can be found here.

I am also involved in developing and facilitating freely available online bioinformatic training courses with Wellcome Connecting Science, in partnership with Future Learn.

My other research interests include, understanding how resistance to antibiotics emerges in bacterial pathogens using a high throughput mutagenesis approach to inactivate genes in the bacterial genome known as Transposon Directed Insertion Site Sequencing (TraDIS). In particular identifying intrinsic mechanisms of resistance in the hope of understanding how these genes may function in conjunction with known resistance mediators in bacteriaHaving been an antibiotic champion since 2012, I hope to highlight the need for research and development of new antibiotics which will be essential in meeting the threat of bacteria already resistant to current antibiotics.
