Sepsis Response Diagram description
The Sepsis Response Diagram outlines the three key areas of consideration when assessing Host Sepsis Response. It is shown as a Venn Diagram with all three key areas overlapping in the middle.
The first area represents Infection Factors. The factors that are considered are:
- What caused the infection?
- How aggressive the infection was.
- If any antibiotic is present.
- Any interactions with the host’s microbiome.
The second area represents Environmental Factors. The factors that are considered are:
- Timing of sepsis diagnosis.
- How quickly the most effective treatment is given.
The third area represents Patient Factors. The factors that are considered are:
- The patient’s genetics.
- Other conditions the patient has.
- If they have had previous infections.
- Social and demographic factors.
