Car Parking
A number of free car parks are available across the Campus for staff and visitor parking, including a 650 space underground car park. Disabled parking is also available. The Conference Centre has a dedicated car park for delegates attending events at the Conference Centre.
Food and Drink
Two cafes and an onsite restaurant provide breakfast and lunchtime options for all tastes and offer popular spaces where staff can socialise. For a special occasion, the Red Lion in Hinxton offers a traditional pub menu and is just a stroll away from the Campus.
Cash Point (ATM)
There is an ATM cash point available in the Cairns Pavillion on Campus. This machine does not charge for use.
Ashburner Library
The Campus Library, known as the Ashburner Library, provides staff and students with access to the most up-to-date information sources available, assisting researchers to maintain their position at the cutting edge of scientific progress.
The Library never closes and is open to all Campus researchers. An extensive range of online journals and databases is accessible by all staff on site, as well as a rapidly expanding range of e-books. The library also provides the more traditional services such as loaning books, obtaining articles and papers by inter-library loan and paper copies of the high impact science journals are provided on the Library’s shelves for browsing.
A quiet study area is available for any Campus staff or visitors to work away from the labs, along with a reading and relaxing area for browsing the newspapers and magazines.
Campus Nursery
For parents raising young children, our Workplace Nursery allows them to integrate childcare into their working day. The Crocus Early Years Centre is available on Campus for parents and carers with pre-school age children. Run by Bright Horizons, the nursery is solely for the use of parents on Campus and places are available on a first come first served basis.

Health and Fitness
Staff can access a range of sports facilities including subsidised membership of the onsite gym and exercise classes, and sporting leagues which are organised by the Sports and Social Club.
Tennis Court
The Campus has its own outdoor tennis court that can be booked without charge. During the summer months there is also an all-Campus tennis tournament for those that wish to participate.
Social Events
Membership of our Sports and Social Club is subsidised and all Campus workers can join, including PhD students, visiting workers and contractors, for just £5 a month.
The Genome Campus Sports and Social Club team arrange sporting and social activities that punctuate the Institute’s calendar. Burns Night Supper, Summer Solstice Punting, Fireworks Night and the Christmas Ball are favourites with staff. Day trips out, Quiz nights and other events throughout the year pack the social calendar, helping people across the whole Campus to meet and get to know each other.
Extensive award winning grounds
The entire Campus covers an area of 125 acres and provides those working here with a beautiful environment to enjoy. We pride ourselves on our grounds and the range of habitats it provides. Campus staff and an extensive range of wildlife make the most of the lawns, grasslands, wetlands, orchard, wooded areas and pathways winding their way through it all.
Weather permitting, there are a number of outdoor seating and picnic areas to enjoy your lunch or take a few quiet moments.
