Shuyi was trained as a computer scientist at Xiamen University in China. She is currently pursuing her PhD training in Clinical Microbiology and Microbial Bioinformatics in Wang Hui’s group at Peking University People’s Hospital. As part of her PhD program, she is undergoing training in microbiome and metagenomics in Trevor Lawley’s group at the Wellcome Sanger Institute.
During her visiting time in the Lawley group, her research interests focus on utilizing global infant microbiome dataset to perform systematic phylogenetic analysis, determining the evolutionary trajectories and directions of specific bacterial strains.
During her study at Peking University People’s Hospital, Shuyi relied on the clinical laboratory, as well as the China Carbapenem-Resistant Enterobacterales (CRE) Network led by Professor Hui Wang to conduct research. Shuyi conducted research on the evolutionary mechanism of hypervirulent carbapenem-resistant Klebsiella pneumoniae, transmission dynamics and expansion trends of carbapenem-resistant Enterobacterales in China, the human virome, exploration strain-level information in clinical metagenomics, and novel approaches for antimicrobial susceptibility testing.
