Eyyub works with the Malaria Parasite Surveillance Team within the Genomic Surveillance Unit. Together with the team, he explores the best practices for genomic surveillance of pathogens, with a particular focus on Plasmodium species, and develops open-access tools for the scientific community.
He joined the Wellcome Sanger Institute (2023) immediately after completing his medical degree. His medical background motivates him to make translational discoveries in public health. In this context, he is interested in the application of next-generation sequencing and bioinformatics tools to study genetic variation in pathogens and humans.
