Background
My previous professional experience comes from the medical device industry where I focused on process development and the integration of software to automate manual processes. I left this industry to pursue a career in genomics and completed my Master’s degree in Bioinformatics at the University of Glasgow in the autumn of 2021. I am particularly interested in making bioinformatics accessible to a wider audience through building software that open-source, easy to run and advances public understanding of disease.
Current role
My main interest as a Bioinformatician is building well designed, scalable genomic data processing pipelines that inform public health decision making. My day-to-day activities include;
- Building robust, scientifically accurate pipelines that scale to high volumes of data
- Methods development and refinement
- Deployment of pipelines on multiple environments
