My favourite thing about working at the Sanger Institute is knowing the people you work alongside are pushing the boundaries in genomics and biological data to improve human health and understand life on Earth. The media team and I get a real buzz from working closely with researchers to tell the stories that will hit the headlines and ultimately impact on society.
Within the Communications team I manage the media team’s activities, which include producing press releases, blogs and social media content, pitching features, creating videos and infographics, organising journalist visits and training Sanger researchers on how to speak to the media. We share Sanger’s science and other stories with local, national and international media, as well as technical and trade press. We work with reporters in TV, radio, print and online media.
