I received a BSc in Bioinformatics, PGCE in Secondary Science and a PhD in Bioinformatics from the University of Manchester, UK. After qualifying and working as a secondary school teacher, I moved into training and project management at the European Bioinformatics Institute. At the EBI, I developed the online training portal and project managed the training content development, launching a portal to train users on the EBI’s services and databases online. In 2013 I joined Cambridge University Press and held various roles, including Programme Manager, Operational Supervisor and Programme Team Lead. In 2020 I joined the Wellcome Sanger Institute as the Aquatic Symbiosis Genomics Project Manager for the Tree of Life Genomics Programme.
