I aimed to unravel specific host-pathogen interactions from both sides, parasite and red blood cell, by generating parasite mutant lines using the CRISPR-Cas9 system and characterizing the red blood cell membrane by flow cytometry and mass spectrometry. These complementary approaches further characterized which of those interplays are essential for invasion to occur and will help develop more efficient tools to tackle malaria infections.
