Alice’s current role is as the Head of Academic Programmes, where she is responsible for academic strategic matters. Alice works to understand individual and collective views of our researchers in order to lead and develop on initiatives that maximise the benefit for scientists at Sanger. Alice interfaces with operational teams for implementation of strategy with respect to academic programmes.
Prior to this Alice worked as Head of Faculty Planning at Sanger and before that as a Work Stream Manager at the Global Alliance for Genomics and Health (GA4GH), which is a policy-framing and technical standards-setting organisation aiming to accelerate progress in genomics and health by enabling effective and responsible data sharing.
Alice’s scientific expertise and background is in functional genomics, previously working as a Postdoctoral Fellow and PhD student for Professor Nicole Soranzo in Human Genetics at the Wellcome Sanger Institute. Her scientific background involved combining functional datasets with genetic studies to understand biological mechanisms at genetic risk loci and identify potential novel targets.
