My research interests are in the genetic code and its vast reach into the functions of the living organism. I am currently working with the vector construction team to generate CrispR libraries for a large scale saturation genome editing project. I am intrigued by the multiplexing approach that is followed within this project to investigate key sites within the human genome. I received my B.Sc in Microbiology and Biochemistry from the University of South Africa and my M.Sc in Medicine (Virology) from the University of the Witwatersrand in Johannesburg. My previous work includes research into vaccine strategies for HIV-1 and SARS-CoV-2. I believe we need a combination of molecular biology techniques like CrispR and informatics tools like machine learning to unravel genetic mysteries that have stumped us for decades.
