Ermira graduated in summer 2014 with a BSc in Applied Biomedical Science (Hons) from the University of Hertfordshire. With a First Class Undergraduate Degree Ermira successfully completed Institute of Biomedical Science (IBMS) Registration Training Portofolio for the Certificate of Competence during an industy-based placement at Public Health England (London, UK). Here, Ermira was given the opportunity to experience and develop a passion for research. With the completion of the IBMS competency portfolio, Ermira registered with Health and Care Professions Council and became a registered Biomedical Scientist.
For further research experience, in September 2014, Ermira joined the laboratory of Dr Mathew Garnett at Sanger Institute as a research assistant. Here, as part of Mathew’s group Ermira assists with the development of cancer medicine by systematically testing the effect of drugs, either alone or in combination, using a collection of cancer cell lines derived from more than a thousand human tumours.
