I am an evolutionary geneticist with a broad interest in genomics and ecology of adaptive radiations, especially in insects. In the Lawniczak group I work towards understanding selection on the major vectors of malaria, the Anopheline mosquitoes. To this end I analyse the data from the Anopheles gambiae/coluzzi 1000 genomes project, as well as closely related species. The goal of this research is to identify both the targets of recent selection by malaria-eradication programs, and signatures of more ancient events.

My PhD work focused on phylogenomics of the Heliconius butterflies, an iconic group of Neotropical mimics. I studied the temporal dynamics of their diversification, interactions with the Passiflora host plants and genomics of interspecific hybridisation. I have extensive experience in tropical fieldwork, mostly in Latin America.
