About
Dr Victoria Dyster is a technical expert in genomic data, including data analysis, software development and building bioinformatic pipelines. She is a proponent of robust research practices and building valuable services to generate impactful insights and training in public health and epidemiology.
Her research interests are in the oral and respiratory microbiome, pathogen carriage, and how antimicrobial resistance is acquired by pathogens in the microbiota through horizontal gene transfer, particularly via transposable elements.
Key Research Interests:
- carriage of pathogens in the microbiome
- respiratory and oral microbiome
- whole metagenomics
- deep sequencing of mixed microbial communities
- antimicrobial resistance
- mobile genetic elements
- Nanopore and Illumina technologies
