Allan Daly
Senior Bioinformatician
With a degree in Molecular Biology I started work in the lab with an interest in genetics and how to apply this to enhance the development of improved crop plants. As DNA sequencing technology advanced I gradually moved away from wet science into the developing field of DNA sequence analysis and bioinformatics. I moved from the plant field into human research around 10 years ago due to the medical field being more mature and offering more opportunities to develop my skills. I enjoy the complex nature of DNA sequence data and the problem solving skills required in order to utilise the information for identifying disease causing mutations.
