The Wellcome Trust Sanger Institute responds to the Life Sciences Industrial Strategy
The report, written by Life Science’s Champion Professor Sir John Bell, provides recommendations to government on the long-term success of the life sciences sector.
Below Dr Julia Wilson gives the Wellcome Trust Sanger Institute’s response.
“The Wellcome Trust Sanger Institute welcomes the release of the Life Sciences: Industrial Strategy, which recognises that genomics, data and research are the key to realising transformative health care in the UK. The Sanger Institute has been at the cutting edge of world-leading genomic research for nearly 25 years, and continues to create the foundation for new genomic technologies for healthcare.
This Life Science Strategy offers a framework for UK research to support and deliver a world-leading healthcare system. We welcome the recommendations for creating a Health Advanced Research Programme, and to support that we encourage the government to implement the recommendations made by this Institute and Dame Sally Davies in her recent report, Generation Genome.
The Sanger Institute remains committed to powering the genomic revolution.”
