Dr Julian Sale
Associate Faculty
My research team has developed and exploited genetic models for studying the genetic control of the replication of DNA damage and secondary structures. More recently, we have been exploring how replication-associated mutagenic processes shape the evolution and function of the human genome.
My main research group has been based at the MRC Laboratory of Molecular Biology since 2003. I became an Associate Faculty member at the Sanger Institute in 2022 to work with fellow Associate Faculty members Jason Chin, Tom Ellis and Patrick Cai on genome synthesis.
I am also Francis Crick Lecturer in Pathology at Gonville & Caius College and Senior Executive Editor of Nucleic Acids Research.
