This person is a member of Sanger Institute Alumni.

Ian performed his postdoctoral training first with Douglas Young at Imperial College, and then in the laboratories of Carl Ware and Mick Croft at the La Jolla Institute for Allergy and Immunology where he investigated the role of TNF receptor family members in cytomegalovirus infection. In 2007, Ian was awarded a Wellcome Trust Research Career Development Fellowship to establish his own group in Cardiff University. In 2012, Ian was awarded a Wellcome Trust Senior Research Fellowship in Basic Biomedical Science. The primary focus of his group is to understand the role that cytokines play in immune regulation and antiviral control during acute and chronic cytomegalovirus infection.
